Originally from Lower Michigan, I consider my education at Michigan Tech one of the best investments I ever made. My Electrical Engineering Technology degree launched a long and fulfilling career as a technician, technologist, engineer, and instructor in both the electric utility and telecommunications fields.

I retired from Palisades Nuclear Plant in 2022 - but I quickly discovered I wasn’t very good at retirement. Today, I’m back at Palisades on contract, serving as an Instrument and Control Maintenance Instructor, continuing the work I’ve always loved.

At 18, I fell in love with the Copper Country and knew instantly that Tech was the right fit for me. Over the years, I came to appreciate just how invaluable that choice was. I remain grateful to the high school teacher and fellow alumnus who helped guide me toward Tech and set me on a path that shaped my entire life.

My love for the Keweenaw kept drawing me back every summer. And in 1979, on the Ranger III returning from an Isle Royale trip, I met Tammy, a Hancock native who became my wife and the love of my life. We shared 40 wonderful years and raised five amazing children together before her passing in December 2021.

Today, I’m proud to stand with fellow alumni and friends as we work for positive change and sustained excellence in the Michigan Tech brand. Tech and the Copper Country gave me an education, a career, a family, and a home for my heart. Supporting Tech is one way I honor all of that.
